Business License for IC - Toni

This exact thing happened to me a while back. I was an IC working for a small MTSO, with maybe 5 other transcriptionists - best job I ever had. Well, out of the blue one day, the owner told me I had to acquire a business license or lose my job. I spent hours and hours researching and making phone calls to my county and state to find out how I go about doing this. Same thing, nobody even knew what an MT was. Turns out in my county, I did not need a business license. I told the owner this. She said to at least establish a business name, create a business card and flyer for my business, and submit it to her. So that's what I did. When I created a name for my business, I had to make sure it wasn't already being used by another business and then register it with the state. I submitted the business card and flyer to her and she was happy and I got to keep my job.
