There is no way to exit to take a break and have it still there when you return. You just have to finish or abandon and lose your work (and make your boss very unhappy).
If you have a STAT come up and you want to pause working on your current report to do the STAT in your queue right behind it, use the Suspend feature. If you Suspend, it will close your current report, load the next one, the STAT, and your current report will now appear in your queue as next. When you finish and upload the STAT, your previous report will automatically reload and you can pick up where you left off.
