A lot of facilities use those disclaimers now. I think it does cover them if they have to go to court. People would know what was in their records if they requested to see them, it’s everyone’s right under HIPAA. When I was hospitalized for knee surgery a few years ago, they had some of my information in the wrong chart and erroneously documented that I had MRSA; I had to submit a formal request to have it corrected. Even though I told them it was a mistake, they did a lab test anyway. All those years of having the importance of being accurate drilled into us, now I wonder what it was all for.
