I use DSL sm. - FlaMT

Posted: Aug 6th, 2020 - 2:04 pm In Reply to: Using DSL internet (CenturyLink) - FF

I've been using DSL for the past 15+ years with no issues whatsoever. I was originally on Verizon DSL. Frontier bought them out about 5 years ago and I'm currently on Frontier DSL. I've used over half a dozen different transcription platforms with DSL & never had a problem/conflict. I live in a rural area and am only able to get one carrier out here - Frontier DSL. We don't get cable or FIOS where I'm at - Frontier DSL is the only game in town at the moment. I was told a long time ago by a tech that satellite internet won't work with a lot of the transcription platforms because it's not a steady connection and drops out intermittently. My download/upload speeds are not great at all (average 3 mpbs download and 1 mpbs upload), but I don't have any other options, so I really can't complain. Most of my friends on DSL in other areas have much higher speeds than I do, so don't let my numbers discourage you. I'm grateful I can get my work done and submitted with the only option I have where I'm at. Spectrum DSL is supposed to be very good - I have a lot of friends on that and they love it. Like I said earlier, I've never had a problem working with DSL - all the programs work fine with it. Like the other poster said, it is slower than cable, but better than satellite. Good luck & I'm sure it'll work out for you! :)
