HIPAA - MTLady

Posted: Apr 9th, 2020 - 7:30 pm In Reply to: Excuse you - Misinformation

No, HIPAA guidelines do not dictate a separate computer is needed to do MT work. I personally have always logged in on my own computer via remote desktop or whatever the employer provided, though I had a couple employers send me a laptop. As long as an MT has up-to-date virus software and security updates and signs whatever HIPAA compliance documents the company requires that is all that is needed to use their own personal computer. I have never used VDI and refuse to do so.
