There is a rule for CA - anon

and some other states, too. The company will pay you a certain number of hours at your benefit rate if there's no work available during your shift.

I believe in CA it's half of your shift, if you have no work. So in a 4-hour shift, if you worked less than 2 hours, the company has to pay you for 2 hours at your benefit rate.

I think there's a certain way this has to be handled on the timecard.
