Yes, you are a new transcriptionist. Thirty years is a very long time. A lot has changed in terms of meds, surgical equipment, procedures, etc.
Anyway, I would recommend searching the archives here for posts about where this business has gone. Down the tubes would be a good way to describe it.
FYI: 8 cents per line is only as good as "if there's work." It's also only as good as if it's straight typing, as opposed to speech wreck. Not sure if anyone pays per hour anymore.
I would look very deeply into this before making any decisions.
