If you can, is just that, a suggestion. Not an all out this is what I think or what I want you to do. Listen, it's not that hard to tell the difference between being told what to do and being given a suggestion. If you can, blah, blah, blah, is a suggestion. That's all it is and the amount of retirement pay at 62 versus later is going to be low for everyone. The longer you wait, the more you can collect on your benefits. If you start receiving retirement benefits at: age 62, you will get 73.3 percent of the monthly benefit because you will be getting benefits for an additional 52 months. age 65, you will get 91.1 percent of the monthly benefit because you will be getting benefits for an additional 16 months.
