The evidence shows we're on the downhill slide in every aspect of MT work now. Though there might be a bit of time left for jobs with the better companies out there, I don't think that many of the very experienced MTs who have been through all the ups and downs really have any hope left for MT making a comeback. A lot of us would like nothing better than to see the industry turn around, but so many of us are already moving ahead with retirement plans, scaling back on work hours, or switching to other careers where the earning power is literally leaving MT in the dust.
Whatever time is left for MT is going to the younger generation who want to stay at home and raise their kids, but I think they're going to be sorely disappointed when they realize the pay isn't nearly enough to help support raising their families.
