Unpaid - Are you an IC

Posted: Sep 9th, 2019 - 11:13 am In Reply to:

I had this happen to me a few years ago. I worked as an IC and the company was in my state. I was told I could take her to Small Claims Court. I would have to file in her county and pay filing/court costs. I never pursued it.

If you are employee, then contact the DOL and see what they say.

I have a feeling you are probably an IC and with that said, it is very hard to get what is coming to you and it could take time as well. Are you willing to go to Illinois if it does go to court?

My only recourse was I wrote to her clients and told them how she didn't pay her MTs. I was out 2 months pay. Why I stayed that long still remains a mystery to me.

Good luck.
