for free. A few years ago, I interviewed with a couple of psychiatrists to review their records. I thought that I made it clear that their pay rate was too low for me during the interview, but a couple of days later they sent me 100 pages of records to review on spec "to assess your style and thoroughness." Note that I sent a sample review in when I applied, so they already knew that. I promptly wrote them back and withdrew my application, and gratefully found something better on craigslist.
BTW, I've gotten three permanent jobs over the years by going in as a temp. It can serve as a paid job search. You never know who you'll meet. Good luck!
