I worked for one Nuance subcontractor that paid 4.25 CPL, another one that paid 4.0 cpl. I certainly would go no lower, and I don't think anyone other self-respecting transcriptionist should either.
By calculations I did once, 20% of all characters transcribed are spaces, so 4.0 CPL-VBC converts to 3.2 CPL. Anybody who works for that rate is, frankly, an idiot or an Indian.
