I use ShortHand and really love it. It is well worth the investment and it will improve your productivity. It works like MS word autocorrect but you can back it up on a usb, so technically even if your computer crashes you should be able to restore it. It works in Word, and it only works in Windows. I don't think it's easy to transfer it to other platforms like InScribe and some may not be possible, but if you have Word and Windows it works great. It's about $30 per year. Look up shorthand text expander and you'll find it.
