There is no good keyboard shortcut to move the playback speed up and down by large increments. I had to use my programmable gaming keyboard to create a shortcut key macro that would hit the "go faster" button 25 times in a row with one key press. (You can also hold down the "go faster" and "go slower" buttons to get the slider to move quickly, but it takes a more than a few seconds to do that.)
