We use initial cap when it's used as a name but no cap if a description.

"They moved here for John's work"
"They moved here for Dad's work"

"They moved here for his wife's work"
"They moved here for his dad's work"

"I will send a copy to her daughter"
"I will send a copy to her mom"
"I will send a copy to Jane"
"I will send a copy to Mom"
