I agree, I still use that rule of thumb, though I think the longer we do this, the easier it is to recognize. Like Zero Tip nitinol baskets in uro surgeries, which I see typed 0 tipped all the time, and so many others you come to know with experience.

You're right, though, if you don't know whether it's brand or not and you can't figure it out after a decent amount of research (I was always taught that should be no longer than 1 minute or so, and they used to tell us to set a timer! were you?), best to go with a generic form.

I may call a medical supply company and ask about the "track pad."

It's funny, before internet and Google, I used to call the local medical supply company and pharmacies a few times a month. I just remembered that this morning! Funny how I forgot that. I'd actually have to look up who that is and find a phone number, it's been so long. That was back in the day when I had an entire shelf of Stedman word books, too, LOL. I love Google now, but maybe there's still a place for good old-fashioned phonecalls.
