Following retirement - from hospital Posted: Oct 20th, 2018 - 7:10 am In Reply to: When you retire from MT what are you going to do? - justme
Took early retirement from my hospital five years ago, taking $20,000 with me from the hospital. Seems no one wants to give me a job any more because of my age but signed up with a temp agency because of an excellent varied work history. This past week working for a media/publication company who told me they were extremely pleased with my job performance, although I have no experience in publishing, etc. BUT what I do have is excellent people, phone and co-worker skills. They even gave me an application to take home to apply with them permanently. You have to SHOW them what you can do at an older age! A temp agency gives you that chance to "get your foot" in the door. In looking for permanent work now, you go into a company to find some know-it-all young HR person who simply rejects you because of your age. Believe me. We have to continue working because us "baby boomers" have to afford to continue to live with monthly rising costs for EVERYTHING! A dollar isn't even worth a dollar any more ...
