I am a working coder but - I got very lucky

My employer put together a program to help transcriptionists transition to coding and they paid for a 'boot camp" through AAPC and then paid for us to take the CPC test. Those of us who passed were transitioned to coding. I got very, very lucky.

I work from home. Frankly, it would have been easier if I worked on site for about 6 months or so. Learning how a facility does coding and being a brand new green coder and working from home is a BAD combination.

I'm studying the PCS coding on my own. I'm not going to take/pay for the 4th module at Andrews. The text books that I have from the first 3 modules have PCS chapters in them so I'm using those books and bought a PCS code set to go with it. Since the books are about 2 years old at this point, the code book only cost $30 instead of $100.
