in my state is a resource to go to for information regarding all kinds of social service programs and community action programs that assist underserved populations regarding health care, heating/utility assistance, housing, etc. Here they have their 211 phone number to call. You might do a search for them and/or community action programs in your area. In my state, we have two health centers, Thundermist and Neighborhood Health Plan who take care of people based on a sliding scale, as far as income; and you never know, you and your children might be eligible for Medicaid after all. These sorts of agencies would be able to figure that out for you. Also, look into the SNAP program (food stamps), if your income is low enough, that will also help.
