The definition of the phrase "status post" is "clinical shorthand referring to a state that follows an intervention" -- from the Free Dictionary. So, in your example, I would write status post operative, but I can't think of a time these exact words were used in a report. Usually it's status post hip surgery, status post incision and drainage, etc.
