The best headphones I have used are USB. they do not plug into the sound card or the sound plug in the motherboard but into a regular USB port. This really helped me a lot, and they are not expensive at all. I got 2 pair of Spectra SP-USB from Amazon. they are now selling for about $38.00 each. They have volume control too. Easy to use and comfortable.
