Assuming you are working on the most recent version with the silence accelerator and working on a VR job:
I turn the speed all the way up. If the audio playback speed indicator is not green, I use the shortcut Ctl; to make it green (accelerate). I usually barely have to back up once I turn the speed back down, but my backup setting is 2, so may be a little longer than many other.
