That is what I have always done for Thanksgiving, but this year ended up having to work the whole day. In our group, our HDSM does allow a lot of people to schedule the day off and even puts out an email that there are more hours available to take off. I didn't request it off and things were scheduled so well that I never ran out of work, even though I had hoped to. For those who wanted to work, I am sure they were happy there was a full day's work, but I was not. There has never been a year when we didn't run out of work before but now I can't even count on that.
