When I hear incorrect phrasing/grammar I fix it, and I am expected to do that. I'd change did undergo to underwent; and I have heard many dictators mistakenly state in lieu of (which means instead of) for in view of. I change that too because in lieu of makes absolutely no sense in your example sentence. These verbal errors jump out at me like typos on signs and in newspapers/magazines. We know they're incorrect, so why would we start to believe they were correct after hearing them repeatedly?
