Telegram really isn't set up to be a corporate messaging application. Something like Brosix is (there are others, but Brosix is extremely reasonable cost-wise with an enormous range of features including file transfer, voice/video calling which is encrypted, whiteboard and screen sharing, etc). NOTE: I have absolutely nothing to do with the company. I'm just familiar with this platform as a user.
HipChat would be another in about the same price range of ~ $2/month or less per user, but it isn't as full-featured and you have to maintain your own server (with Brosix you do not).
Just because something is "free" doesn't make it the obvious choice, especially if it doesn't function exactly as you need it to. One way or another, there's always a price to pay when you "go the cheap route" and end up using the wrong tool for an important job.
