When I was in a crisis, I noticed that in quiet times I had an inner thought saying "I'm scared." I went to an EAP counselor and she had me write affirmations--actually write them on paper--such as "I am brave", "I am smart", "I can do this." Think of some time when you conquered a fear or were complimented. I have also listened to meditations (free on youtube) and have been doing cardio and strength exercises which are a natural antidepressant for me. Get outside and go for a walk or drive. Smile and say hello to strangers (well some strangers, LOL). Having friends and family to talk with helps a lot, even if it is just e-mail. If I hear that voice that says I am scared or I can't do this, I know I need to get back on my personal program.
