Way back in the 1990s, hospitals were contracting out to transcription companies, then sending work offshore, then VR showed up and for some reason, the transcription companies decided that editing was easier than typing (which it isn't, there's more room for major errors with VR and it's much more stressful than straight transcription). Now docs are producing their own documents, hiring scribes to chase them around for 8 bucks an hour. It's all about the money honey, and the transcription company monopolies. I doubt the ACA has much to do with the situation we MTs find ourselves in, this has been an insidious trend for a long long time now. As if we didn't see it coming.
