Good read - Lowering my standards

I have been through a transcription layoff after 18 years in the same job but was fortunate to get another job quickly within the same organization so I never drew unemployment. Something that I learned was that DOL cannot make you take a job if it pays less than before, or you can accept it and draw partial benefits to try and cover the difference. I understand your cynicism but the admin assistant sounds like a good opportunity. You probably wouldn't stay at $9.00 an hour and they may offer more based on the interview and your experience and it probably has a benefit package. If you don't want to be around people, you are really going to be limited, even that grocery store job is going to put you in contact with people. You need a job so you may have to make some concessions. At least you are getting called for interviews, I hope something that suits you; anything would be better than doing nothing and you'd have an income.
