I too was laid off on 9-12 and when I contacted UE in regards to our severance pay, they said that the amount of severance that we were given would not affect us getting our checks; I forget the exact figure, but the severance had to be a much larger amount than we received (and I apologize for not remembering the exact amount) before it would count against us getting our checks on time. I haven't had any problem with my UE checks. It may depend on what state you live in. Hope this helps!
