I don't know what you mean by "piece" in Cerner. I sign into Cerner, then sign into PowerChart (which is a program within Cerner) to enter the notes. I have found it's faster to type and proof everything in Word and then copy and paste into PowerChart. You can type directly into PowerChart but it doesn't highlight errors and the spell check leaves a lot to be desired. You can program PowerChart to pull up specific doctor schedules, then just click on the patient you need to enter info on. It takes about 20 seconds per patient to open the chart and enter the info. I have to enter the time, change the date if it's not the current date, enter the doctor's initials, and copy the note. Easy peasy.
