Melenic vs. melanotic - mtdummy

I've gotten conflicting answers over this.  Is it melenic or melanotic stools and is it urine nitrites or urine nitrates?

stool=melenic, urine nitrites as the lab result - SM

Melanotic is defined as pertaining to the presence of melanin. Melanin is the dark pigment of the skin, hair, and various other structures. Melanin, however, is not found in stools. The correct term is melena, which is defined as dark-colored, tarry stools. Although seldom dictated correctly, it should always be transcribed correctly.

For nitrites/nitrates: urIne/nitrItes. . .heArt/nitrAtes
