Question regarding resume - outta here

Posted: Nov 19, 2009

I have a question and maybe someone out there knows the answer.

I have a resume which I created on Word.  I would generally send it as an attachment to an e-mail; however, I'm finding that recruiters for some reason are requesting the resume be pasted into the e.mail.  If I do that, I lose my formatting on the resume and the text gets all messed up.

Does anyone know of a solution?  I feel really dumb!

Thanks!

hey, me too - dito

I always got that too, I just fixed the text after I pasted it back in. I have no answer, sorry.

Make sure your resume is saved with an .RTF extension. Use the COPY icon in Word to copy it.

Then, write your email and click on the PASTE function. It's the CLIPBOARD icon. You should see your resume in the email properly formatted. Test it out by sending an email to yourself.

You guys must use a lot of special features in your resumes, because I never have a problem.

Thank you so much sm! - outta here

It worked. Thank you. You're a life saver - or at least a time saver!

The Solution is this, really, go to File and then ... - CO MT

After you have the document exactly as you want, save it, then go to "File" pull down to "Send To" and go to the right side of the "send to" and choose "mail recipient." Then you will get an email header on the document, but the document will be just like your document and will print like a word document. Just put in the email information and hit send. Try it by emailing it to yourself first to see if you like it and the system is working properly.

If you have problems, just email me and I will help. Sometimes Outlook Express is not set as the default email program for your Browser. You may be using it as your default, but your internet browser has Office Outlook as its default email. Then the document will not send until you either open Office Outlook and find your document sitting in the Outbox waiting for you to hit Send/Receive. There are lots of little thing like this that can make it seem like a problem, but really, this is a great way to send a resume because it will really look good right when they open the email. Just remember to use something like "here is my resume" in the subject line.

Now I Have A Question About Resume
Jun 30, 2012

I have had six radiology transcriptiion jobs in 25 years.  I had one on-site job for 10 years and the other 15 years at home.   I can easilly explain what my duties were when I was on site. Anyway if I transcribed for five companies at home doing the same straight typing radiology reports do I really need to itemize wha ...

Resume Question...sm
Dec 04, 2014

Its been literally about 9 years since I made a resume up. The last company I worked for was acquired by Nuance, which is how I got with them. No resume needed. The school I attended years and years ago is no longer the same name. They changed names and might not even be around anymore. My old resume is on my old computer packed away. How do you put that kind of stuff down when it has been so long?! Also, the company I worked for got picked up by Nuance. I cannot remember the exact month or year ...

Resume Question/advice - How Much Is Too Much?
Feb 01, 2011

Someone posted some excellent points the other day about what they, as a recruiter, look for on a resume.  Keeping it to 1 page -  should it then just be the name of the place and the dates of employment?   No need to put reason for leaving?   Potential employers can ask that if/when they call or interview you?  That creates time gaps between jobs - wondering if that looks good or bad at first when looking at a new resume?  No matter how tight I squeeze ...
