EZ Eyes Keyboard - WARNING - Auntie Anxiety

Posted: Mar 19, 2012

I went to order my EZ Eyes keyboard (the one with the yellow keys and BIG lettering for those of us who are eye-fatigued and visually challenged), and by a stroke of luck happened upon a website full of probably HUNDREDS of complaints.  Apparently, credit/debit cards are being charged in some cases TRIPLE what the amount should be.

While I really, REALLY wanted that keyboard, I didn't want to risk my debit card being hammered for 2 to 3 times the actual amount, so I decided to check out Ebay to see if anyone was selling these.  Not only did Ebay have them for $19 to $29, but I found several websites that specialize in computer products for those with disabilities and also have these in different colors and styles.

(ETA:  I received my keyboard from a seller on Ebay within 3 days and I LOVE it...It has a nice touch, the bright yellow keys with big black lettering really saves me time and, thus, increased my production a bit...Not to mention that my poor overworked peepers are really delighted with it!)

Following is the link rife with complaints about being grossly overcharged.

We MTs work hard enough for our money, so hopefully this will help some of us to not be ripped off.  Here's the link...

I went on e-bay and they were grossly over-priced - 35 and up

It was cheaper buying 2 on the EZ Eyes site and selling one on E-bay. If you get charged twice, then fight the charges!

You might want to read the complaints - Auntie Anxiety

Apparently, fighting the charges with this company selling EZ is easier said than done.

I guess I got lucky in that I got mine at a bargain on Ebay and it works just fine (although it is a bit different model than the one advertised by EZ Eyes).

You have more time and energy than I do. I wouldn't go near a board where I'll - likely have to fight charges. nm

I bought one on Ebay that looked nearly identical, in fact bought 2, and both of them have a backspace button you nearly have to pound to get it to work, waste of money. My card was charted 38.95 for 2 of the other boards. You have to be careful when ordering because they always offer a membership into some buying club and if you don't make it clear you don't want it, they charge for it.

That was one of the complaints, too (sm) - Auntie Anxiety

Some of the people complaining on the link brought that up, that you had to go through several "special offers" to get to the order confirmation screen; several said even though they "x"'d out and never confirmed their order, their card was charged the instant they uploaded their debit/credit card number.

Lots of those TV offers do that - sm - XXX

I ordered some of that Flex Seal on line, it had about 10 pages of offers, said no to each and every one. Just did a regular order, think it came to $40 with the "free" can with its S&H on top of the other one (just pay separate processing and handling). But I did not get charged twice or anything like that, BUT they called back about 2 days later. I was out but told my husband they needed my 3 digit code off my credit card for some reason (luckily his card is a different acct #, but in any case he did not even try to give it to them). He told them they would have to talk to me. Called me, I knew it was a scam right away as I had already had emailed notification that my order had shipped and payment had cleared ou acct too. So when I got home I called them, reamed them out for calling me and trying to get me on the hook for more charges, told them I wanted nothing else from them but the two cans I ordered that I knew were already shipped, etc. Told my DH to never ever even contemplate giving out any cc info over the phone to anyone that called him/us, huge NO NO. Still have not used that flex seal as DH had covered the hole on the roof with tinfoil, but needs to go up there and spray this stuff to fix the hole by the vent pipe. --- But you have to stay on your toes when ordering stuff.

KEYBOARD - ME

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't understand why an MT would need a keyboard with big letters or that glows in the dark, etc. I have a sturdy HP keyboard, its alot like a Compaq keyboard and if you keep it clean it will last forevery. Its not like those flimsy plastic 14 dollar keyboards. But I never even look at the keyboard anymore, I look a the screen. The letters are pretty much worn off anyway, but what MT looks at the keyboard?

Yes, and I made some errors, just being in a hurry. : )

te he he - maybe you need the keyboard

too funny

Had to get that snark written before it slipped your mind? - Honestly

Talk about looking a tad foolish.

Guess things like that happen when one never bothers to look at their keyboard, eh?

One who uses a platform that requires use of F keys? - Eye roll

One who has vision challenges?

One who isn't as perfect as you perceive yourself to be?

Any number of reasons come to mind.

I'm always amazed at those who post just to be snarky. Says a lot about that poster's personal life, IMO.

Uh, you might want to START looking at the keyboard - OUCH

[ In Reply To ..]
Your post is full of typos, so perhaps you really DO need to step off of that mighty high horse you're on and look at the keyboard occasionally, just as a refresher course ;-)

you can get one of those visa/mastercard debit cards - happyMT

from walmart of the other stores that you can use only once if you want and then cut up. You just put enough money on it to pay for what you want. Or, if they sell those types of keyboards at best buy or office depot, have it shipped to the store for pickup.

EZ Eyes Keyboard
Mar 26, 2012

I type many hours a day several days a week and usually use the old clicky keyboards but thought I'd give this one a try.  Don't waste your money.  It's smaller than a standard keyboard with big letters on the keys and it's so light it moves constantly. You nearly need to velcro it down.  The touch is hard, makes your hands very tired and the backspace is in an odd position to you constantly hit the wrong key or have to stretch your pinky out a couple of inches ...

This White Screen In DQS7 Is Killing Me. Eyes Hurt, Headache.
Oct 19, 2012

In DQS6, where the screen color was determined by what you set Windows colors, I had a nice pale green which is very easy on the eyes. And what's up with the dark grey highlight for SR!? Harder to see the black text underneath. Shesh, these changes from DQS6 where definitely made by people who do not have to look at a computer screen all day. I will never forget the day I was looking for a specific keyboard and the computer salesmen did not comprehend why I was so picky. They had ...

Okay, so I got a job offer!  Yeah, sounds great but the pay was at low level, but I kept my options opened and I said okay.  They do not use the standard counting and count a line if there is only one word.  I thought Wow that is strange but maybe the companies I have been for are more on the straight and narrow.  Then she told me no contract, just too much paperwork and a lot of "mumble jumble".  I thought okay odd but okay.  Then said told me it was on a trial bas ...

Warning About A DSL ISP

I had to give up my $39. a month wireless ISP to comply with client requirements. Had to sign a 2 year contract with the company "C.L." whose ads claim it's only $19. a month. The speed connection for that price is equivalent to dial up. By the time you really have the DSL you need you are up to $63. a month. I also had to get a landline which I did not need. It rings ALL day with wrong numbers and solicitors so is useless to me but I have to pay for it for 2 years. I got my bill on Marc ...

TAA WARNING
Oct 10, 2013

Just a warning to my fellow laid off colleagues.  I was sent for vocational skills assessment testing as a part of the process for TAA.  I mentioned to the interviewer that MT had turned into a minimum wage job over the last year or so due to outshoring and scarcity of work, and I was really looking forward to retraining and a career change.  The long and the short of it is that this was interpreted by the vocational assessment team as since I was working at a minimum wage jo ...
