Still looking for experienced ophthalmology Transcriptionist to work full time, as additional clinic is due to open September 2nd. :-)
Due to expansion, A+ Transcription Services is currently looking for one full-time independent contractor to work Monday through Friday. Can choose desired work hours, but must be able to stay consistent on time of day/night when finished work is returned and within 24-hour turnaround time. Transcriptionists are assigned their own specific clinic(s) and doctors to type for each day, which means you get the good, the bad, and the ugly that come along with the package deal. By typing for assigned clinics/doctors, each Transcriptionist is able to get comfortable and can produce the work faster on a daily basis; however, this also means that there tend to be slow work days and heavy work days. This position does not allow for the transcriptionist to type a certain amount of lines per day and then call it quits.
Please, only apply if you have the following qualifications:
Three years continuous ophthalmology experience or six years combined acute care/ophthalmology experience (actual hands on transcription experience required, not including transcription education, working in a veterinarian's office, past experience as an ophthalmology technician, etc.).
Experience with Word is required, along with the general knowledge of what a Macro is and how it works. Must have DSL/cable, Bytescribe-WavPlayer, and Bytescribe-DocShuttle Client/Transcription software. The DocShuttle Client/Transcription software and Bytescribe-WavPlayer are not provided for you and must be purchased from Bytescribe after completing initial setup and introductory training period of approximately two weeks. Must also have a good medical spell-check program installed (such as Stedman's or Sylvan), along with a medical dictionary program (such as Stedman's). While it is not necessary for the job, a good long-distance calling plan is a definite asset while initially setting up and training.
I am looking for someone who is easy to work with, who takes great pride in the work produced, and who pays attention to detail. I personally believe that punctuation is an absolute necessity when typing medical documents, so please only apply if you have a decent grasp on sentence structure. The training period will be approximately three months, possibly less if you are a fast learner. If you require a great deal of time off each year, please do not apply for this position. I am the sole owner of the company, and my responsibilities entail training, billing, payment, typing for my own designated clinics, amongst many other responsibilities, so I am looking for a transcriptionist that will be dedicated to learning the position and working independently as soon as possible. New clinics are opening on a regular basis, which means the hiring/training process generally begins again shortly after the last transcriptionist has completed training.
Macros are used frequently, which expedite and automate a great deal of the mundane tasks associated with daily typing, such as creating report headers, saving reports, creating patient logs, spell‑check, etc. Everything that is automated and eliminated from having to be done manually saves you time and makes you more money!
Pay is according to a 65-character line and is calculated with the program SylCount IV by Sylvan Software. EVERY KEY your fingers touch you get paid for, except delete. There is also a good deal of FREE line count built into the report and signature Macros that you get paid for as well. During the initial setup and training phase, the pay is 7¢ per line, which generally lasts about two weeks. The pay then increases to 8¢ per line until you are completely on your own. Once you are on your own, the pay then increases to 9¢ per line. The rate of pay will not increase beyond the amount of 9¢ per line; however, I have been told by other transcriptionists that the 9¢ per line actually equates 11¢ per line because of all of the free line count and Macro automation that is provided. Payment is made on the 13th and 27th of every month and is ALWAYS punctual. An invoice is generated at the time of payment, which accounts for total lines and amount earned per report, along with gross line count and earnings.
If you love animals and have the above qualifications, please send your resume. Qualified candidates will be required to test for the position and fill out a questionnaire before they are contacted by telephone.
This position will be filled as soon as possible, and the transcriptionist MUST be able to begin working immediately.
U.S.-based transcriptionists only. Work will not be subcontracted to another MTSO.
