Well ladies and gents, wish me luck - sm

Posted: Jan 19, 2014

I have had it with this company.  I don't have another job to go to definitely but I have decided this is my last week with this one.  I am quitting this coming week but haven't decided quite yet how to do it.  Last week I hurt so bad I couldn't walk without a cane and my neck wouldn't turn, I cried all week and was seriously thinking of suicide,  so Saturday night I just decided heck with this I'll find something I always do, and when I woke up this morning the sun was shining, my neck moved and my back hardly hurt at all.  Life is good - please say a little prayer for me in whatever fashion you do it!

Prayers are with you. - sm

I know I am not alone in wishing the very best for you, but please seek professional help if you continue to have thoughts of suicide.

I did the same thing 6 months ago... - Depressed

...and had another MT job in less than a week. Same crappy pay, but not near the stress as Nuance. No more FIESA - Amen!

Nuance-induced depression - my take

I don't recommend antidepressants unless these negative thoughts continue. I found my depression lifted the minute I left Nuance. There are other jobs, you will feel valued again. Good luck!

Hang in there! When one door closes another one opens -- you can make it! Blessings!

I had a severe bout of anxiety/depression in the - last 2 weeks.

When I decided to quit Nuance and go work in a grocery store, ALL my negative emotions went away immediately, my appetite came back, and even my sex drive reappeared. It was almost instantaneous.

I highly urge anyone who works at home in isolation that is feeling strong feelings of depression and anxiety to find work outside of the home. It worked far better than medication and therapy--the result was immediate and complete. I cried and laughed from RELIEF for 2 days. ONE decision changed my entire outlook on life.

Anxiety/depression - MT

Years ago, when I became an MT, I work in the transcription dept at a hospital (remember those?). Even at that time, when the job was a good one, I had to do something physical on the outside to counteract the type of work I was doing and working 8 hours a day in a room full of women, who were either pre menopausal, post menopausal, new moms, newly divorced, just married, single and loving it, single and hating it, etc. I was always into some sort of sport or activity and to this day, 20 years later, with my own children grown, and I am still at this and working at home, I still have outside activities. This job is just a means to an end for me and nothing more. I feeling nothing towards it, other than try to do a good job and get paid for it. Good luck to you moving on and out, but for those that feel they are still at a job that keeps you at home, break out of the house! No matter what you do. A walk works miracles for me, when I am feeling cooped up and I play in competitive sports as well, which lets go of my frustration. I play tennis and sometimes, I just have to go out and "hit something."

I walk my dog every lunch break when it's not winter - sm

I feel the same too. I started getting more depressed and noticing I had anxiety whenever I left the house. I never had that before being an at-home MT. I would start shaking at the grocery store, never had that happen before and that was scary. However, I figured out that exercise did help and I would just take the dog out for a walk around the block, even 15 minutes just for her to do her business was all I needed to destress. It's really cold winter here now so I just play fetch with her in the yard since she likes chasing snowballs, pretty funny actually. Before I got my dog I would literally sit in the house from wake up to bedtime, wouldn't even check the mail. I once went 4 DAYS without stepping foot outside because I had no reason to. That's when I realized this job was making me that depressed.

Good luck in your future endeavors. I think once you quit MT you will feel alot better! NO job is worth all this nonsense, especially your life!

God Bless!

I can remember spending days on end, never going out either. Had enough food to survive or called pizza delivery, had my shows on TV, when I wasn't tied to the computer and barely changed my clothes. It was scary. I live where it is cold too, but with the fabrics today, and thank god for long underwear, you can get out. I don't mind the cold so much, as the snowy/icy streets, sidewalks. I bundle up and go for a walk, no matter what and it helps clear my head. I wake up with headaches sometimes and go for a morning walk and by the time I get home it is gone; better than a cup of coffee. We just have to try and stay strong, because they companies are on the verge of killing off every MT out there. Life is short and you don't realize it, until you are old! I am just grateful, I can keep working and keep active to some degree.

A couple of weeks ago, I was just ready to up and quit. I've been an MT for 28 years and am almost 62 years old. I realized if I can just hang in here until my birthday in May, then I can retire. Yeah, I won't receive full retirement benefits, but maybe I can find something to do part time until I can get full benefits. Wish me luck!

I Am Completely Frustrated With These Ladies I Work With And I Just Don't Know What To Do.
Aug 01, 2014

Don't get me wrong, they are nice ladies, but they are just so very clueless.  I just recently got a job here and I am in heaven.  It is a small rural hospital (60 beds) with a staff of 6 transcriptionists in house.  The dictators are fabulous.  Sure there are some difficult ones, but nothing I can't handle especially when you consider that it is a short list and I transcribe the same dictators repeatedly on a daily basis.  It is NICE!  My background ...

I have a call in with a ticket open.  Grrr.  This statement shows a base rate as well as an MT rate. What is that all about?  I am paid per report with radiology and they show the number of jobs transcribed at the base rate instead of the MT rate, which is considerable lower!  WTF. ...

well our hospital is to be taken over and they will be coming to speak to us individually.  There are four hospitals in this system.  Our hospital will have no transcriptionists going with Nuance. Good luck with some of the doctors, one doctor says he needs new dentures (people have been doing him for 30 years can't understand a coherent sentence) on the bright side he does correct our work cheerfully, must be alotting more money to other things than his dentures. More work for yo ...
