Nuance QCs - UNBELIEVABLE!

I AM SO LIVID!  These QCs are unbelievable!  I used "and" instead of "the" and the QC marks me off for English misspelling/typo which is a 0.5 error instead of an English word misuse which is less at 0.25.

Do you think "and" and "the" are typos?  I think not! 

You see, this is evidence that they are being totally unfair and proof that they do not want anyone to make incentive!  This is my opinion!  Anything to bring your score down!  Man this pisses me off!

It should not be any points off and certainly not 0.5. I got 1.0 marked off for not putting He (major omission) in front of a sentence on a verbatim account where it wasn't dictated. Okay, maybe I should have put He but 1.0, seriously.

How does any of this impact patient care? Oh yeah, it doesn't.

QA/QC at Nuance is blatanly unfair and WRONG!!!!

Anyway, as you can see I totally sympathize!!!

Of course they will come on here and say they are just hard working stiffs like you and me and would NEVER in a million years do anything unethical. Gee, how can you think that. There are so many of us poor QA people we could never orchestrate that.

I don't buy it. The things we are getting marked off for are ridiculous. They are things that have ZERO meaning in the big picture.

I had 15 punctuation 0.25 errors in a report. She put commas in where they did not go. She changed commas to periods where they did not go. It was outrageous and clearly incorrect but she had to make sure I failed that audit and since I didn't commit any major errors, she had to create them.

They must be getting some kind of incentive to fail us.

the errors that we are marked off for that make no changes are ridiculous. It really frosts my feathers when I go back and look at my Fiesa and see CLEAR errors on the QA's part and what I did was incorrect. Oddly enough, suddenly I can't go in and listen to the reports for me to see did I actually have the date typed in wrong with numbers when it should have been letters...a mistake I am now all the sudden making, however, never made it in the past.

They do not exist. I have never gotten a reversal, even when my TL said I was right and QA/QC was wrong.

I actually have to disagree. I got a reversal and what is even stranger is that I didn't request it. I got a notice and it had the word that I had typed and the one they had changed it to and marked me off but then there was a reversal block which put back in what I had typed and changed my points off to 00. I have never gotten one before and I didn't even request it

I can only assume that particular report was one that QA got QA'd and they had to reverse it.

I have a feeling that QA doesn't get anywhere near the amount of audits that we do or we would see a lot more automatic reversals.

I'm so sick of this QA/QC bull. You do it one way and you are knocked off hefty, 0.5 points, so you do it the way you were told in that ding and the next day STILL MARKED OFF FOR THE WAY THEY TOLD YOU TO DO IT. Does anybody have a clue as to why, NOPE. Does my TL even know the right way, nope, instead she "forwards my email to QA for verification." Um tell me why when I have an issue w/ my fiesa, every time, it is forwarded to QA for verification and I never hear an answer back, I am just dinged all the way around for no matter how I do it. Maybe I should just put blanks in the entire report and see how they like that. For the life of me, isn't your TL supposed to be well informed of how things are supposed to be on your account, seems like the only thing my TL is well informed about is sending an email to pass it off to somebody else. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here with nasty comments from QA making me look stupid!

They are getting more and more aggressive about it too. Major omissions are very common for minor words that do not change meaning. I got a huge 3.0 error for hearing the medication correctly but the QA said she couldn't understand it 100% so I should have put a blank.

I gaurantee I have more knowledge and experience than she does and I was 100% sure of the med or I would not have put it in the report. I looked up context, dosage and I heard it CLEARLY. I have been doing this for 17+ years and worked QA for about 8 of those years. I was right and she was absolutely wrong. It's not my fault she is stupid and unqualified for her job.

Anyway, it is a losing proposition. The TL pawns it off on QA and it is never resolved.

E-mail the QA person over and over again. Maybe that is what we should all do. I am sick to death of their idiocy.

It's shameful. Its always this one QA that finds anything possible to be wrong. You are told to not put the dates in, you are marked off at least a point, so you put the dates in and you are marked off at least a point for putting it in "as per account specs it doesn't go in the body", but just yesterday you told me to put it in. Its a wash. This job has become more stressful than any other company that I have ever worked for. I just love their nasty comments back to us as well, just the icing on the cake!!!

These 2 make it their mission to make sure all reports that have the misfortune to cross their monitor fail. One in particular (name starts with a D)is a pure nightmare. It isn't enough for her to get you just under, nope, she has to try to get you into the low 90s on every report.

I am sorry but commas everywhere are no longer the rule. She also changed a singular to a plural incorrectly and left a sentence that a 5-year-old would cringe at.

I admit I make a mistake or two but I know the 2 that kill me everytime are over the top because none of my other audits are that bad, mostly 100% actually.

I really don't get the reasoning behind this practice. It serves no purpose.

I am so stressed out that most days I don't even want to work anymore. I love being an MT and have been for years, but seriously it has gone too far. I wish there was somebody out there that we could complain to that would take our complaints seriously and investigate the company and how unfair they treat their employees.

I have a QA just like that, not only does she make sure you fail every dictation that comes to her, she makes sure you are put in the low 90s as well. Just sickening when another QA will evaluate my work and i'm getting 100%. The other day I was notified by her to make all labs a separate sentences...ALL OF THEM. So sodium 132. Potassium 3.0. or whatever it may be, but now all the sudden each lab is a separate sentence with the comment to not separate a sentence with a comma. Do I look that stupid. So whether it really should be a separate sentence, according to her and only her, all should be a separate sentence. Try make a good line count, going back over the VR to change the VR commas to now periods. Funny how this is a "new" rule and yet it doesn't state to do so in the specs. I guess she makes the rules now.

QA do NOT send direct feedback ti the MT. That is the QC. QC scores do NOT count against your quality scores. Only QA POSTAUDIT scores determine your quality scores and affect your incentive. QA is POST DELIVERY which means AFTER reports are sent to the facility and CANNOT be changed. QC is PREDELIVERY which means BEFORE reports are sent to the facility and CAN be changed before the client sees it. QC supervisors are YOUR TEAM LEAD...QA has their OWN managers. Also if you are not hearing back from your TL regarding reversals that means it was not reversed. Do not lump us all in the same pot because we are NOT all the same and do not get raises and bonuses to fail you. That is just plain STUPID. We have a job to do just like everyone else. I for one have GREAT MTs on my account who ARE making incentive and some not so great ones who I wonder WHY they are MTs. I also think you should take responsibility for your failed audits and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT instead of always placing the blame on the QCs and QA all the time. Just because you have YEARS OF EXPERIENCE I have found means SQUAT if you are not willing to adjust and change. Flame away because I REALLY do not care! Sometimes the truth hurts!

Uh, we know QA and QC are different. It is irrelevant as both groups are equally inept.

I would find your arguement that the MT is to blame much more believable if I got poor QC audits from all QC people, however, I do not. The SAME 2 people fail every report. From the rest of QC I usually get 100%. I am not mixing QA and QC up here either, this is QC only and trust me you are not all on the same page.

I admit when I make an error and always make note of it so I don't do it again.

The QC report may not be able to be "changed," as in it has already gone to the client, but of course when we get corrections they show "changes" the QC has made and let me just tell you the changes are not always correct. Dickering over semantics doesn't change facts and the fact is some of the "changes" are flat out wrong!!!

It is very interesting to discover our TL is over QC, as those are the only reports that actually matter. Are you saying even if we are correct and QC has made an error that score cannot be changed?

Anyway, the truth does hurt, as you are clearly hurt by the posts regarding QA and QC, which are absolutely true.

QC CAN change the report because it is done BEFORE it is sent to the client. QA CANNOT change the reports as they are audited AFTER it is sent to the client. QA reports are the ones that determine your quality scores. If QC is failing your reports it DOES NOT matter. If QA is failing you THAT matters. You obviously do NOT know the difference or did not read my post or you would not have posted this nonsense. I was trying to help you! I am not hurt by the comments which is why I was TRYING to explain to you the difference between QA and QC. The POST AUDIT scores are the ones that matter (QA scores).

According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive. I thought they were 2 different services.  Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows.  All the small companies have been merged I guess.  I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR.  Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

Does anyone know why the ad says "No inquiries from overseas" when they obviously offshore the work?  Anyone reading that would incorrectly assume they do not offshore.  I was reading an article in the newspaper that a journalist was talking about a few days ago regarding the hospital outsourcing to the Web/Nuance, and the spokesperson for the hospital said in the article that the company only employs US MTs.  ...

If Webmedx does away with or changes their recently advertised "PRODUCTION BASED INCENTIVE" bonus and adopts the Nuance quality based bonus then this change may be considered by quite a few WMX employees as yet another cut in pay. Is this true? Because if so that means they dont take into consideration years of experience, opportunity for increase or nothing. Seems kind of hard to work for an obviously big and successful company that is only willing to pay their employees 0.41 cpl and thats it, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I received an incentive bonus this paycheck (for the first time ever). My QA score was 99.3%. So, I get an email today from my supervisor that my latest audit was only 98.2% and they are going to reaudit me in 2 weeks to see if my score is improving or if I need further disciplinary action. WTF? I've been with Nuance for 3 years and think it's time to jump ship. This company is messed up, and the QA is so inconsistent. ...

In house just got outsourced to Nuance.  In our meeting, they said the PTO is 10 days total, which you have to use for holidays and sick time as well.  So, if you take all 6 holidays (if that is even possible), you get 4 days off a year?  Not even a week for vacation left over.  Someone asked if that changes with time of service and they said no, that will never go up.  ARE YOU KIDDING?  Is this what the rest of you get for PTO, or is this just something they have s ...

I have been with Nuance a few years.  I'm an MT.  I'm not the best MT out there, nor am I the worst.  I read the comments on these boards and my jaw is on the floor.  FYI, not everyone has the bad experiences that have been discussed on this site.  I can't account for the horrible things I hear people saying about Nuance, except to say if things are really that bad for you, maybe MT is not for you or Nuance is not a good fit for your career path. ...

There is someone who claims to be a QC for Nuance and that they are only paid minimum wage for this position.  That is utter nonsense.  Why would any experienced MLS take a minimum wage job in the MT industry when you could make more than that on production easily.  If you are experienced enough to be in QC or QA then please don't lie to the rest of us and tell us that you only make minimum wage.   ...
