And they made me buy Word 2007 for the job.

Interestingly enough, Wage & Hour and the IRS clearly have rulings to say that an employer must provide equipment and tools to do the job either by providing those needs OR by compensating their hourly wage.

Well every day of the week I'm over here providing Internet, the computer, most of the software to do their job and I'll be darned if I ever saw any reimbursement of that!

I tried to get away with home version, and - they made me change it.

They went into my computer and looked at what version of Word I was using. They wouldn't hire me until I bought the new version, so I did that day (it was $110), and they came back on--checked that I had replaced it with the Professional version. Lame.

I was hired by Transcend originally and am using 2007 home/student with eS vs 10 right now, nm - anon

Also was originally hired by Transcend with home & student. Nothing was said when either eS v9 or v10 was installed. Both versions work fine.

I keep having one glitch where the "confirm" keeps "unconfirming" and tech support refuses to try to fix it because of the version I have. I have pointed to them and my manager that no where on their specs do they say to not use this version and when I bought this computer last fall I specifically asked for a list of specs. I've told them if they are going to refuse to fix it then they need to buy me the program. My manager is in agreement and is working on trying to get resolution one way or another with them on this.

Using Word 2007. Installed Stedmans Spellchecker 2010 . Test shows the speller is working. Upon spell checking document it does not allow me to add words to the dictionary. That option is grayed out. I've followed instructions found online to correct this in Word but that does not solve the problem. I had EditScript downloaded to my PC , but have not used it yet. I wonder if EditScript disabled this feature in Word? ...

I have heard different interpretations of the "no commercial use" rule by Microsoft about the Home and Student version of Office. Some say you cannot use this version to work from home as an MT, and some say it only means that Home and Student version just doesn't have all the bells and whistles someone would need for commercial use.
