Any Happy MTs at Nuance? - CuriousMT

Is there anyone that is happy at Nuance? I really need benefits, and I was considering just working 30 hours (the minimum to qualify for benefits). I think they said the account would be on BeyondTxt - how is that platform? Is there much difference in pay if you work the 2nd or 3rd shift? Thanks for any honest input. :)

I was not happy from the day I was hired for many reasons, not the least of which was the low pay, the lies (telling me that I was going to produce so much more and that would make up for the low pay, etc.), the lack of work, the unfair treatment. I could go on and on. I looked for a job actively for 2 years and finally found one. If none of the above matters to you, then the insurance is worth it. I couldn't stomach it, none of it, and that's why I moved on with a smile on my face and a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I now make 3 times what I was making at Nuance and I am appreciated and I feel like a darn good MT again, not a mediocre (at best) MLS. I am again proud of my work and my job and life is, again, good.

Not to mention the fact you'll have no paycheck, or very little money left, after paying the insurance.

Is the insurance actually worth it, though? I think they offer lousy plans. - sm

I understand it's not all that much better elsewhere, but from what I can gather, I think even M*Modal might have better health insurance than we do here.

You will probably need more than 30 hours just - to afford their insurance.

Plan changed this year for us and very high rates and awful coverage.

Yes, 30 hours is progressive part-time and eligible for health insurance and PTO, not sure what else - anon

You get a shift differential for 2nd/3rd shift. I'm content with the company especially when comparing them with other companies out there and what they offer and current employees I know say about them.

Nuance is horrible but the reality is that all of the MTSOs are terrible now.

So if you want to make minimum wage and have sporadic work, they are all the same, it simply does not matter which one you pick.

Nuance has decent PTO for full time and that is the only good thing I have to say about them. The only difference is that QA at Nuance is more horrific than any of the others as it is tied to the bonus that they work very hard to make sure you do not get it.

I wish I could say I made that up, but here's the difference in a real transcription job and Nuance with their hocus pocus VR.

I worked 2 hours transcribing this morning at my old job and made $47.24 - I only needed the Nuance job because I didn't have enough work at my regular job.

I worked the next 8 hours on VR of the worst kind for about $23 TOTAL - that's right ALL DAY for $24. Again, I wish I could say I made that up, but it's true. Add in that the quality of the dictation was subpar at around 25% understandable, the fact that QA will run me through the paper shredder for pissant mistakes that don't amount to a hill of beans . . . Ahhelno . . . tomorrow morning they can wonder where I am because I am not working here another day. I was looking for a job when I found this one . . . apparently I quit looking too soon~!

Sweatshop hits it on the nose!!! If you like making pennies on the dollar for a specialized field, then by all means, HAVE AT IT!! I on the other hand like to have money at the end of my pay period, which you will NOT have with Nuance or any MTSO unless you sit in that chair 16 hours a day!

I am actually really happy at Nuance. I worked for 5 yrs for SGS prior to this. I started as an MT and then worked as QA. I poured my heart into that company working obscene hours to keep those accounts in TAT and then they screwed over a bunch of QA, myself included. I was heartbroken that I sacrificed so much for that company and was let down in the end.

I hired into Nuance about a year ago as an MT and I am very happy. (I didn't want a QA job this time around because I need to make up for lost time with the family.)

The pay is more for an MT than my previous job, I never run out of work, I am not harassed by my team leads about TAT, no issues with QA as many have reported and I really like the incentives which I find are pretty easy to achieve. Really excited about holiday differential too, worked for years without that one. I am sure it is case specific and depends on multiple factors like team lead, account etc., but I think there are a few of us it has worked out for. So far...

As far as insurance though, I don't know much about that end. It wasn't a deciding factor for me so I never really looked into it.

So much negativity on this board. Is anyone happy here? I can say that I am grateful for my job here at Nuance. I don't feel the QA is out to get me. My mistakes are my mistakes. Work is there. My TSM is wonderful. I get good PTO hours. I have had some bad QA weeks and have been frustrated but I have sat down and focused on how to make this better. Who in their right mind names a company "Happy Transcriptions?" I've been at TTS for almost 3 years and I have nothing but positive things to say about TTS. I never have to guess what TTS expects from me, and I do my best to deliver that on a consistent basis. Communication flows freely and efficiently. My team leader and 2 shift leads are EXCELLENT managers in my opinion. Everything I invest in my job comes back to me and then some.
