Getting extremely frustrated - Tara

I have been out of school since July 15 and applied to over 30 companies. I applied for this job at a company and haven't heard back yet. I am optimistic that I may get this job, but it is taking forever to hear back. Passed their first test, took the second one, now I am waiting to hear back if I got hired or not.

In the meantime though, how do I find other companies online? I have looked everywhere and felt like I have already applied to every company online. Please give me some companies that are legit, have good ratings, etc. Any advice would help. Please.

I graduated in May of this year with a very high average. I have not found a job yet, but my school has been giving me referrals to reputable companies. I will keep testing until I hit success. Good luck.

They don't do job placement and/or referrals. It is a community college. They don't help with any of that.

A few of my fellow classmates (and I do mean few) have gotten jobs with the companies that they have interned for.

There was this one girl who I thought had gotten a job with her company, but they gave the job to someone with more experience. Now, it is 3 of us who are looking for jobs.

I am not sure of how many students were in the program, but I think it is totally the advisor's fault for putting some people in companies where they are hired, and some in companies that do not hire. She should have checked it out before putting us into our internships!

She put myself and another girl in an internship with DIT. They offered both of us positions. We had told her that and she advised us not to take the job, which we did not. It just makes me angry that she put us with a crappy company for an internship when she knew all too well that they were going to offer us a job!

Your advisor placed you with a company that DOES hire, actually. It has just come to light that they do not PAY.

Would you preferred she told you to go ahead and take a job with them and then find out you've worked for free?

Six months is the average time now for most graduates to find a job.

The best you can do is keep applying, keep your skills honed, and keep putting one foot in front of the other.

There are very few companies who are currently hiring new MTs so to give you a list of who is would be nearly impossible. Who have you applied with?

It is not only you who is applying to tons of places and not getting hired. There are many experienced MT's that can't find a job either. It is the state of the economy we are in and all the technological advances going on. Many of us MT's have lost jobs in the last few years and so to think that you can just graduate and apply and automatically get the job is not going to happen. At this stage of the game, MT's have become competitors because a lot of people are hurting for work and no one wants to give up the jobs they have. This is why you are not getting a lot of help in your requests to find a company that hires newbies. They don't want you taking their spot. That is another reason why, for the most part, you only see big national companies listed on here and not the little MTSO.

The purpose of community colleges is not to help people find jobs. They were never designed to do that. They are designed to be a cheaper way to get an education.

You have posted at least twice over the past week or so. Several people gave good advice, and I posted advice as well. You never responded. Did you even bother to check for responses? What are you wanting to accomplish here?

I work for 96 physicians who (rightfylly so) expect the best and fastest quality transciption. However, when seen as a patient, I get the most horrid treatment (and fradulent) treatment possible (most most by clients.) I have been transcribing for 11 years and everytime I get a fasting talking dictator with an accent, it slows me down so much that it affects my production. I have slowed down the speed and added several expanders but that does not seem to help. Are there any tips or suggestions anyone has that can help? Thanks, Mel ...

I have been a transcriptionist for 15 years, all of which has been on Dictaphone EXText and now EXEditor. Why does my ESP in Dictaphone keep interfering? If I use an expansion and hit spacebar the ESP windows comes up, which makes no sense because ESP uses ctrl-ctrl to open? And how on earth do you learn it all? How will it benefit me after using thousands of ESPs daily. Help! ...

So, our hospital outsourced and that did not work for me. I am looking for another job, but from what I see, what used to be a valued service is now a low cents per line and you have to work nights and every weekend for half the pay. I used to work for a transcription company on production pay at 7 cents/line after a few years there and basically getting starved out of the door for lack of work they were sending me I quit. I am just venting. I took a position with a company a few months ago as a secondary income and the platform and dictators are great - very easy to make good money. The problem is there's not enough work to hit my daily line counts and when I ask for more, I kind of get the brush off. Frustrated that even though I have stressed my proficiency in ED work, I am still forced to do other work types first, while yet others are getting ED work types in their "pools"...
