So confused. So, I do not have work yet a half hour in, sm - CONFUSED AGAIN

I didn't even clock in. I guess I have to fill out a remedy ticket at this point but I do not feel spending the day looking for work and not getting paid should be expected. I have family from out of town staying here for the weekend and they are leaving soon to go to lunch and then a movie. Because I was supposed to work I did not plan to go but sitting here and checking and not making any money seems stupid when I could be enjoying time with my family. The email I received said we can use excused absence if we are not able to get all our hours in. That seems vague to me. After checking for work for a while and not getting anything, I would rather just call it a day and do other things and not make money rather than checking for work all day and not make any money. This is nuts! (needed to vent, sorry)

Take today as PTO so you don't lose your income, that way you can have a guilt-free day with your family. I took PTO today but just out of curiosity I did check the backlog. The entire western region has been almost wiped clean, there are only a very small handful of accounts that have 20 reports or less in them.

Given the choice, I would choose family over sitting at your computer any day. Especially if you can take PTO and get paid for it.

You will so regret not going with your family. I hope you did! even not getting paid is better than sitting waiting for nonexistent work and missing an opportunity to spend time with your visitors.

There are MTs who don't mind working the holidays and some who don't have family, etc., and that is fine. I wouldn't mind either, but if you have children or family/friends coming in from out of town, why and then to make matters worse, THERE'S NO WORK! So you stress about that and it totally ruins your day. I never sign up for holidays nor do I ask for time off. When I worked in a hospital and we were paid decent wages and treated like employees I would work Jan 1st, as I didn't mind that and didn't mind doing my part, but no more. I won't give this company one ounce of my freedom. Let them send it to India, like the do all the other days of the year. They get what they pay for!

and that is nothing! I won't given anything extra of my time or myself to this place. I am not going to agonize over reports or mistakes or audits or the ridiculous e-mails they send out and when they want to they can fire me. I am looking all the time for another job and the day is going to get here at some point. I only hope I am out in 2014, because I just cannot last much longer.

at the most. I'm pretty sure they will have gotten rid of me one way or the other by then. I'm so fortunate that I don't have to depend on this income to feed my family. My heart goes out to those who do. To me, it's an opportunity to find something more rewarding to do.

If you can go without a job showing up for 6 minutes, file your Remedy ticket, enter 6 minutes onto your time card with the ticket # and enjoy your day. Unless you want to spend the next 12 hours sitting at the computer for, maybe, 3 hours of pay.

6 minutes NJA, file a ticket, and you are free for the rest of the day. It is the MM NJA policy in place presently.

the only options now are make up time or use PTO. It doesn't say you are free for the rest of the day; the policy actually says that is NOT an option any longer. We do have the excused absences, so are we supposed to choose make up time and then take an excused absence? that doesn't make a lot of sense. Taking an absence is not the same as making up time. I wish they would clarify! I don't know what to do!

ON Thanksgiving someone posted that her supervisor sent out an email saying put in your ticket and do not keep checking for work. But we are supposed to make up the time! How can you do that if you don't keep checking for work, and why put in a ticket in the first place if you are going right back to try to make up your time! This company is just so confusing!

Go to MM Central and reread the policy. It states you can make up hours that day OR another day by contacting your supervisor, or you can take PTO for the day (if you have hours).

In the past, I have clicked make up time and not made up the time another day with no repercussions. Good grief,if there is no work available within the week, how can you make it up?? This is the only way I have found to not use PTO in the days when I actually had PTO.

You must need this horrible job badly or have a monster of a TSM.

Myself, I am counting the days until I graduate from school and can get out of here.

How can you make up time another day with supervisor approval if supervisor sends out email saying they are not available Thursday until next Monday? I do not want to use my PTO. How do we not make up time and not use PTO? Even if HDSM was avail there was not enough work to support make up time.

My transcription job was always paid by the hour. I was laid off and they recently offered me a temp position with them making $12.00 an hour. I was also offered a positon that pays 7.5 and 3.5 cpl. The $12.00 is employee status for a small local company I worked for over 9 years. The other is an IC position. Do you think I would make more with the $12.00 an hour or the per line production rate? Ive never not given a notice, but I interviewed today and might get the job. You all know the deal, I just can't afford to work here and they want to fill the position Im trying for immediately. Do you think after only 6 months, I have to give them a notice? If so, how much of one? It feels so wrong to just up and quit, but I can't pay my bills! Why is it that MTs (especially the ones who are starting out) have the opportunity to transcribe dictated reports from doctors that sound half dead, like they are using their last breath to dictate a report? It's amazing to me when QA tells me that they can make out everything these doctors say. What do the more seasoned MTs think about this? ...

Yeah, it came in like: "Within the belfry San Francisco heated the tripod and pumpkin blazed with endometriosis...." The WHOLE report didn't have three words consecutively that made the least bit of sense or had anything to do with what was dictated. "Fix" it? You gotta be kidding. Wipe it out and transcribe as dictated, you mean. Oh, and here's your half line rate, thanks! You SR transcription companies MAKE ME SICK. ...
