QA/EDITOR INFO WANTED. - anon

Hi all. Can anyone tell me what the scenario is nowdays with MQ QA/editors? Do they still have just QA or is it QA combined with transcription? Do they pay per hour and can anyone tell me approximately how much? Thanks in advance.

QA are now called MME and do QA and transcription/ASR. You get paid 3 cpl for QA, your regular line rate for transcription, and 60% of your transcription rate for ASR.

We hardly get QA anymore due to "First TIme Right."

I had one today that I would have sent to QA - in the olden days,

but I filled in what it sounded like the doc said, got it to the 2 markers allowed and sent it on (it was 150+ lines and I wasn't about to send it to QA and be cut 3 cpl - sorry).

I still have at least 90% QA work and some days it's all I do.

Of course, a lot of it is 100% QA because it seems the overwhelming majority of the MTs on my accounts are on 100% QA and have been forever and at least half of the dictators are so picky they are on 100% QA. Then there are the ILPs...

Per the note from MQ exec: "Effective as of Wednesday, 3/3/10, jobs with QA markers will no longer automatically route to the QA stage, and you, the MT, must choose to submit to the QA stage if you require assistance in preparing a complete, accurate, customer-ready transcribed document. At this juncture, in a phased approach, to encourage individual growth and improvement, we must set standard expectations for QA stage submission support to a maximum of 10% submission of total lines produced beginning April 1, 2010 and to a maximum of 5% submission of total lines produced beginning May 1, 2010. All lines exceeding these thresholds, as of the relevant dates, will be paid at a rate that is $0.03 per line less than your base transcription and/or ASR editing rate, whichever is applicable.

Compensation -- for those of you delivering customer-ready work today with a QA stage submission rate lower than the above standards -- will be unaffected by this new standard unless you exceed the applicable thresholds in the future. (Note: MMEs should continue to submit all edited or transcribed work directly to the customer, without QA stage assistance, because of their level of skill and expertise."

My plan was to retire PT and work PT, however, I was told MModal is no longer allowing employees to go PT only if you are grandfathered in. I'm not talking about the official proofreader positions that people hire in as. I'm talking about VR "editing" - meaning, when you get those reports where VR does what it's supposed to, and you only need to add 1 comma, for instance, in the entire report - and you are zipping along at the 300-400 lph you were promised, as justification for the 50% pay cut on switch to VR...isn't that actually proofreading?? ...but what about those OTHER reports...the ones that re ...
