I've had it.  Today will be the first time I'm not going to be compliant with the "mandatory" OT.  I just can't anymore.  They mandate, then they run out and cancel the mandate.  They give a few days without mandate and then we're back on mandate.  I work a specific schedule for a reason.  I do NOT appreciate being jerked around.  Whether it's illegal or not, it is WHOLLY UNETHICAL.  I'm not an on-demand worker.  This 8-hour shift today is already a long time to ask of my bones, sitting here non-stop.  I can't do 9.  I won't anymore.  My paycheck today was pathetic and that was WITH extra time worked.  

Side note:  What is UP with SR only putting ONE SPACE after periods all of a sudden and not on an account with specific instructions for that...on the last several reports I've done on various accounts.  What a freakin' pain to have to add in a space after EVERY SINGLE PERIOD.

Quickest way to fix that:
Ctrl Shift F
In find, put a period and 1 space
In replace, put a period and 2 spaces
Then click replace all

You will have to manually take 1 space out between Dr. and doctor's name.

I have never had a problem except for adding an extra space after doctor's names which I correct while editing.

If you enter it correctly in Ctl Shift F, there should not be a problem.

I'm not easily beaten down and I've been pretty positive through all of this but I've been working 9+ hours of overtime every week for months, both mandated and voluntary, and still we get these berating emails IN CAPS LOCK because of late work. I don't have any control of the late work, I type what downloads to my computer. They say there is late work, but I'm not seeing it. I see jobs dictated a few hours ago. I used to work for companies that would send the work in batches and I'd send it back in batches...then if the work was late it was absolutely my fault. There are only 2 things I can control - one is my quality and another is my speed and both of those are flying out the window with my dignity. The amount I get paid for overtime is an absolute joke because by the time I get to 40 hours and the overtime pay kicks in I'm so mentally fried I'm barely meeting line counts anyway. If they offered up more bonuses and incentives with this overtime, people (myself) would be more apt to participate with a smile on our face.

I work 20 hours a week, so essentially it's never OT pay for me. It's the same pennies for just sitting here longer and over the time that was agreed upon. I truly feel for those of you who are FT and being asked to go above and beyond 40 hours. That would've definitely been a deal breaker for me. I'm getting very close to deal breaker time as a PT-er.

Per the policy and procedure. I've been 20 hours for some time, but I've also done 24. I really like 20...more and I'd probably chuck the computer out my 2nd story window, which I have been tempted to do with all the mandated extra/OT. Ha ha.

I failed 2 audits in a row because I was zombie editing and missed "of" and apparently did not spend enough time searching a doctor for a cc and spelled it phonetically when it was "so clearly" in the database according to the auditor.

So to save my sanity and my job for now I stopped working the MOT. I kept waiting for a phone call or email but nothing. I agree with the wholly unethical. Months on end of MOT with no end in sight. If they are not going to call a cease fire I will. Maybe in a couple weeks I will think about it again, but for now, as somebody once posted, poor planning on their part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

...being put in a position where in order to stay sane I have to be noncompliant. That is simply not who I am. I follow the rules. I WANT to help out if I can. I don't want to be MADE to do something, though...ALL THE TIME. And I'm mad that I have to feel guilty or worry about the risk of being fired or reprimanded in some way when I am working my shift, passing audits, getting MORE than the expected lines, etc. I just want to do my job well during my hours. Why is that so much to ask?!?!

When they screwed me with the schedule change months back I quit working the MOT. Add that to having actually been called to work overtime and when I worked it the jobs were not even from my POD, I refused to work OT anymore mandatory or otherwise. I work hours that work best for me now, not them, and I work my 39 hour full time minimum. And the hours I work are NOT what is on my schedule. I've been working for MM for 12 hours, you can make the new hires work the hours you have gaps.

Unless you have done this work, I don't think someone can appreciate how tough this work is. I used to get, "at least you work at home," but the key word is work - we don't sit staring at the walls. We work very hard at this, and especially since speech recognition is a farce. I had so much dictation last night where I had to correct virtually every other word in sentences.

I used to work overtime all the time, but I found that when you are very tired, it's much easier to make a mistake, and God forbid missing that 99.6 or whatever it is now. Salary wise, I think we are worth at least $20.00 and hour. I'm just saying......

I am tired, everyone is tired, of being in the hamster wheel that leads to nowhere. As long as we remain stressed out working the OT to keep the accounts in TAT, they will NEVER hire the people we need to balance out the work load. Maybe if the accounts fall behind, Someone will take notice. I will work, and work hard, during my scheduled hours, but that is all they get. I will not give up my days off to dig them out of the hole they tossed themselves into.

Is it possible this has all been an experiment by MM. Maybe even they are amazed that they can get people to work OT continuously. The pod I am in has constantly asked for OT as far back as I can remember and, apparently, there are people who will do it, so MM keeps on doing it and it has worked out very well for them.

ASR was doing better a little while back now it is way screwed up again...Which means they hired people that dont know what they are doing..They need to make it about a year or so on new hires before they go through the filter and screw it up..And you would think at the very least there would be a filter to keep misspelled words from printing out,,,Just my opinion ...

I just want to let everybody know there are other fields where we can put our skills to use. I responded to an ad asking for a transcriptionist and thinking it was medical I sent my resume of 20+ years MT and got hired . It turns out its a legal transcriptionist for workers comp lawyers. Right now I do 4 hours a day as they need me (as there is another transcriptionist there) and am making a lot more than medical transcriptionist. I'm hoping at some point they may offer full-time so I&# ...

I have been considering going to Andrews to become an MT for and I have never done it because I get on these boards and get scared to death! I have worked in the Medical field for 13 years (as a clinical tech and surgery....included in that is some limited transcription and scribing). I now stay home with my kids. I have been transcribing for 31 years. Hospital laid us off in 2008, went with our contract provider, then Nuance took over her employees. I have been looking for a job for over a year and finally found one.
