I dont get it - why so much negativity?

All the anger and bitterness is not going to make your situation go away or change anything. If people are unhappy, then they need to get to the root of the problem and fix it. Ultimately we as individuals have the power to determine what we will and will not stand for. So many are unhappy with their jobs and from what I can tell every company out there is pretty much the same. It does not matter where you work, if you have a bad manager/team lead/QA, then see about moving to a different region. Just because one region is bad does not make the whole company bad. Why do you think everyone has a different opinion about different companies? I worked for Transcend breifly and hated it, but there are others there who absolutely love it. Just because my experience was bad does not mean everyone elses experience will be too. In this business accounts, years of experience, managers, team leads are the biggest factors as far as how well you will do or how much you will like your job. There are so many variables and they vary with each person. Anybody that walks away from this board and makes a decision based on comments read here should be careful.

If I could pay myself more, trust me I would. It is what it is. I am trying to get out. I tried not to be negative, until I now live in poverty. Still do the same work, same amount, same quality, and make half pay. Not much positive there.

I acutally work harder then I did then also..I make less money and Im pissed off all the time..If I could move I would but my disability from MY FAVORITE career says no..So until I can get the kiddo out of college and retire, here I sit..The ONE thing good this job has done is it made my kids see how hating going to work each day sucks..One has gone onto his dream career and the other is in college well on his way...so for that I say thank you..3 years max and Im done!!!!

I have taken paycuts...Across the baord paycuts..I have been through this with 2 different companies now, went from 10, to 8.5, then switched back to 9 down to 8.2 then couldnt get with another company for more then 8.25..(thats straight typing) Go to VSR and drop to 4..sorry you cant make up that kind of money,,it is IMPOSSIBLE

is a witch or unfair or absent or uncommunicative. My supervisor's attitude does not affect the way I do my job. If I run out of work, I run out of work. That's why I have a backup. If QA doesn't like the way I transcribe a report, oh well. I make the changes they suggest and if they still don't like, FIRE ME!

This is my attitude. I am here to work. Not be coddled. I work at home so personality conflicts don't matter. If I get a hateful email, who cares? It's just words on a screen.

And I also know without a doubt that every single company out there is going to lie PERIOD. Business is business.

I refuse to cry into my pillow every night or boo hoo on this board or any other board because my profession sucks or my company sucks or my supervisor sucks or QA sucks.

It's dog eat dog out there right now. We are in a recession. Everyone has to work twice as hard just afford the bare necessities.

You do have choices. Go to another company. Go back to school. Work at Wal-Mart.

If I had had better information I could have possibly begun training to change professions, but all I have been told for years now is to hang in there, it is going to get "better." Bah humbug.

is an ugly monster that we need to kill, but it is a reality just the same. Write your congressman, lobby for legislation to protect patient information and prohibit electronic medical records from leaving the jurisdiction of the U.S.

And sure Speech Rec has impacted transcription negatively. But again it is an ugly reality that we must deal with if we want to earn a paycheck.

When I spoke of the recession, my point was this: We all need our jobs, even MTs jobs that don't pay as much as they should or offshore work or pay less for VR. What we can do is do the best job we can do with the tools available to us and maybe try to change our industry at the same time. And quit whining!

Quit whining and be proactive. Earn your paycheck and actively try to change your piece of the world or go back to school and change professions.

be "proactive" and make different choices. Trust me --- I am trying. I have applied and applied. Usually don't even get a "thanks, but no thanks." I have done this for going on 30 years now. I am extremely good at it, but all this time in transcription has pigeon-holed me into this profession. I have been back to community college and taken classes on Microsoft Excel and even took a Health Unit Coordinator class, but my age and lack of experience at anything besides transcription is working against me. I am not even really considered qualified as a receptionist any more. All this Pollyanna talk about taking our circumstances and changing them just makes me boil sometimes. Thanks guys. I am still glad to have a job. I just miss my old transcription job.

the fact that most people get lousy ASR and lose their accounts to India.

It has nothing to do with accounts, years of experience, managers and team leads, it has to do with this company letting anything go on ASR instead of putting an accuracy rate on like many companies do. When ASR first came out, there was an 85% accuracy rate on it. I know because I was having doctors removed left and right due to the fact they only had 33% or 40%. Then, they found out that most of the doctors were being removed and took that away, made anything goes and blamed the workers for not knowing keystrokes or whatever. Some accounts have good dictators that do fit the 85% or greater and those reports are not as bad. People should fight back and F11 all reports that do not fit that rate, which are most of them.

Another factor is if you are a slow typist with little experience, you may do alright on ASR, but if you can type 200-300 lines an hour, you aren't gonna do much better on ASR with the few exceptions,thus dropping your pay, so I guess lack of experience plays a role in that part of it.

People should fix the root of the problem and take it into their own hands. That's what I do. I also won't accept being bounced around as that is nonproductive. People do need to stand up for themselves and instead of whining, do something about it.

As far as India, we can't do anything about that but I believe that will turn around if the reports get to the clients before being edited here and QA should only fix blanks if that is what their job is and not fix the whole report, like they are supposed to be doing, then the quality will catch up with them and hospitals will start refusing work from there. They are told the work is just as good from there but it is always fixed here before going to the client, so the client has no clue. That needs to stop. If I was QA and was told to fill in blanks, that is what I would do, I don't care how dangerous it is. I get paid to do my job, not theirs, and if the hospitals accept that quality, then the circumstances fall on them, not me.

The original ASR was a dream,,then the Indians got it and bam freaked up mess inside of a week..Im an original ASR trainer, I can speak cause I went through it..And I will bitch till my hearts content cause I want to..Any ideas that the majority cares to follow to try and fix this mess count me in!!! And Ill be ok to retire in about a year so once that marker hits all bets are OFF!!! Im gonna have fun right up till the day they either fix this mess for the rest of you or fire me..And I WILL NOT jeopardize patient care one bit!!! I have way too much integrity for that..

I finally met someone last weeks who likes this company. Why? Apparently she just likes to work and doesn't want to do much else. She is retired from a university hospital so is probably receiving a pension, is older, like me, so is undoubtedly on Medicare. This all works for her. However, if you take an objective look at this company's policies you should be able to understand why the vast majority are not happy. If you are young and especially a single mother, you cannot support yourself and your children as you used to be able to. The pay is terrible. Instead of fixing the ASR, they tell us to work harder. The health care is worthless. The time-off policy is despicable. Many MTs are stuck until they can find something else. If the negativity helps them blow off steam then they should go for it - at least until they can change their situation.

Have any of you heard of prayer? - it really does change things.

I prayed when the Q bought us, my pay got cut twice. When I was offered another job after the 2nd pay cut, loss of bonuses, etc., I asked for guidance, and WHAM the day before I had to give an answer about the other job my account disappeared...talk about a revelation! The down side is the negative impact I'm sure that account going EPIC had on those who didn't have the opportunity to leave....for me it was Independence Day! Evil, evil company!!!!
