I've been doing medical work since 1973.  I have never felt like more of a flippin idiot than i do at this stinkin company.  Even as a fresh out of highschooler in jr. college, taking medical record classes and receiving my ART which, of course is now obsolete.

The QA people are idiots.  None of them are doing the same thing AT ALL.  When I was QA at another big company, at least I tried to be consistent.  I was also nice, but these jerks act really high and mighty.  "Please make sure to check Repository every document."  Well, duh, but what I heard and what I saw were DIFFERENT - do you WANT me to screw up?

I've been here 3 months, long enough to get benefits, and now i just want a little piddly job that i can either have 24 hour turnaround, be an IC, anything as long as there is consistency and no self-righteous jerks doing my QA.

Even my cheerleader person, whatever they are called, is of no help.  CCM never responds to emails.  UGH, I JUST HATE IT!

Here is the best advise I can give. Ignore them. Just do your work, ignore them. Do what you know how to do. Follow the client profile. Look up everything you dont know. Leave blanks where you have to. AND IGNORE THEM.

I have been with this company for almost 17 years. That is the only thing that works for me.

Which it seems they are every single day. I left the week after DSG was bought out. All it is is a big conglomerate of a clusterf---. I could go on, but no need to state the obvious.

There are those MMEs who care, who work hard to learn everything, and do their best to give feedback without sounding like a jerk, which is hard when to do because nobody likes to be told they did something incorrectly; hence, taking the feedback as an attack.

I'm sorry you have some bad MMEs, but don't insult all of them in your rage. That's like me saying all the MTs are idiots and are all sloppy. Is it true? Not for all, but a few, and there are some who are exceptional, but I don't rant on a board and insult and disrespect them all. The QA/MMEs who aren't doing their job correctly should be reported to your quality coach, if she won't answer, then your MME, if not her, then her boss. Keep escalating the issue.

Well, ya know, since I dont get any information about who they are, and since I know I only have them on "my" team, that is who I'm talking to. If you dont fit the generalization, then dont take is so personally. Only MMEs know who they CORRECT. I dont like being CORRECTED by a smarty, and I am being CORRECTED by several of them.

I don't have any recent feedback to check if they list it in the feedback section. However, if you write down the job number of the report with the feedback that is ticking you off, go to your statistics, find the number and click on it, the MME is listed right under your name.

Worked for MQ/MM for 8 years and had more than a few incompetent QAs and most were haughty and high and mighty. I had one excellent one. Sorry, just my experience.

It goes both ways. Unfortunately, you will find incompetence, cockiness, and ignorance on both sides and it seems like it is the majority.

I've also been a baker, a cook, a tutor, and a general contractor. You will find this is the same everywhere, and you will find common sense isn't all that common.

My point is, please don't insult one group of people when the group of people you are associated with are guilty of the same thing. You'll never really know someone until you stand in their shoes and walk around in them.
As MME, I find it is the same 4-5 that are the worse. Not bad - enough to fire but not as good as they think. nm

you're absolutely correct. I've worked with way too many MTs who think they can do no wrong, even when they're obviously wrong. I've also worked with QAs like this. All are sloppy and careless and all are degrading to the MT profession as a whole.

And the *too many MTs* think ++ years as MT makes a difference. - Skill set is the only thing that counts. nm

There was an MT style guide, October 2011, which included a lot of information and quite a few changes in style imo. I wonder if everyone received this. If not, this could account for inconsistencies.

It is that we have a client profile to follow, a MT style guide to follow, the BOS to follow, JCAHO to follow, and all contradict each other. Then you have doctors who dont go by any of this and when you are bounced around from account to account, you have no idea which doctor gets which instructions.

All this company has to do is pick ONE set of rules, and EVERYBODY follow them!

I have an awesome QC who tries to help - with this problem

She sends out the DQS standards and guidelines, the MT style guide, and the BOS about every month or so and tells us the hierarchy. According to her the DQS standards and guidelines is the important one. All accounts are transcribed according to this. This is the normal way of handling all transcription unless the client profile states differently.

The MT style guide is for style questions. If they are not addressed in this guide, then look in the BOS2.

The CP states the exceptions to the DQS standards and guidelines and MT style guide. The CP always takes precedence over the other ones.

My QC says the DQS standards and guidelines are just that, a guide and not really to pay attention to those.

Take for instance the whole laboratory value thing. The doc dictates hemoglobin 14.0. JCAHO says an extra zero is prohibited, too confusing. The DQS style guide says for better clarification keep the extra zero. Depending on the MME I lose every time on this issue and each one will quote their reference source, either the JCAHO or the DQS standards.

The best answer I have is not to send to QA. Ever. Everytime I get feedback it makes my head spin due to the inconsistency. Add a zero. No don't add a zero. Add a zero. Is it really that hard to have one set of rules to follow?

You very well may be right regarding medications and I thought that was the case as well, but after multiple conflicting feedback on reports I don't know anymore. If their whole evil plan was to totally confuse me they have succeeded.

I type a lot of crap, but just had the worst doc I think I ever had.  Had 11 QA markers so I sent it to QA thinking they might actually LIKE getting some work since they are about to be history.  Anyways, this bi*ch marked 2 CRITICAL ERRORS and did an audit on it (which was still 96.5% in spite of everything I am glad to say).  QA you wonder why we have such a bad attitude?  That was totally unnecessary.  ...

I spend a lot of time typing for a huge university hospital clinic with no ADT.  Have to type in all patient information.  Almost every report is a LETTER.  Referring physician has to be typed into the ADT.  Then the letter recipient information has to be typed in and lo and behold have to re-type it into the cc list for the doc to get a copy of the letter.  I wonder why I can't run a decent line count?  I spend 50% of my time typing in information that I am no ...
