Holy Cow - Kimi

Posted: Mar 09, 2014

I came back to see how everyone was doing only to find this.  My new job is hard on the legs, but doing okay for only being there a total of 7 whole days.  When I worked for MModal (Medquist) things were tough, but not terrible.  I'm kind of in shock over this.

It's nice to have a little bit of good news! - anon

I'm so glad to know it's working out so well for you and that you're happy at your new job - we could all use a little good news from people who finally make it out of this hell hole and move on to a better life.

As you can see, you got out at JUST the right time. Don't look back ... keep going!

I'm just shocked. How did this happen?

We let it happen. We facilitated it, and now we - IMANMT2

have people offering up advice on this board for everyone to become scribes at physician's offices. I was offered a position of scribe after the physician told me as an MT I was obsolete. Of course I turned him down. I only hope my complete disgust at the prospect showed on my face. I have a feeling it did. :D And I hope he understood I was flinging it back in his. I, myself, am eyeing a warehouse job at least part time to start out because it will be as you say, hard on my legs. :D While I look for suitable at-home work and debate the benefits of driving to an on-site MT job with a hospital.
Not our fault. Corporate mismanagement - just saying

This company mismanagement would read like a Harvard case study on how NOT to run a company.

We were not the ones who made the decision to invest in an inferior speech recognition product even though the employees on the beta said it was crap. Instead of scrapping it they just sunk more money into it like the movie money pit.

We were not the ones who decided to be corporate/management top heavy and overpay executives. Instead of fixing the problem all they did was reorganize and reorganize over and over like a bored housewife rearranging furniture.

We were not the ones who decided to over promise (TAT, 99.7%, etc)and under deliver and then pay fines when the quality (gasp!) does not meet the unreal expectations.

We were not the ones who decided to undercut the competition all the while knowing that they were losing money the whole time.

We were not the ones who tried to squeeze every last bit of production out of the employees, cut pay, cut benefits and wonder why employee turnover was so high. Do you know how much money a company spends on hiring and training employees? Thousands of dollars. All of which could have been avoided if they just would have just spent a fraction of that money on retention.

Better check your 401K match and your 401K balance. I would not put it past them to either not have made the match or raid the funds.
Worse than mismanagement. It was - CORPORATE GREED.

I am glad I'm sitting down. QA,TH, is actually transcribing!!! Put this on the calendar. I would love to audit her work because if it is anything like her emails, QA would have a field day w/that! Would love to pick her work apart like she does everyone else's, and not encouragingly either. Would love to see how she likes it... ...

Got an RN dictating alphabet soup -- ER, CHF, CAD, CABG, INR, DOE, JVD, TURP. . . a medication that she can't get close enough to pronouncing for me to get close enough to spelling, and then to top it all off, a hgb of 113.7.  Nothing on previous report look-up is a help for this one! But I bet she got a raise -- not a pay cut ~~ ...

The US Department of Justice has confirmed that it is conducting an antitrust investigation of Nuance Communications. The investigation is looking at Nuance's acquisition of Philips Speech Recognition Systems from Royal Philips Electronics for $96.1 million in October 2008. There has been concern since the purchase that Nuance has essentially taken control of the world's medical transcription market. Nuance's acquisitions, which have sometimes been preceded by submitting target co ...

Oct 25, 2014

THANK GOSH I'm not working my "regular primaries" anymore ... the accounts I've been working on for the past 5 years are almost ALL completely indecipherable accents from every country on the globe but since the new switch I haven't had even ONE single report from those accounts but the new ones I'm being routed are vanilla-accented, plain English-speaking and normal-speed midwesterners in Kansas and Oklahoma.  Those of you who have always worked on these accounts until ...
