I think I read that the average age for diagnosis of celiac disease is 60! There is a drug, Dapsone, that could cure the skin problems I've been having if this is the right diagnosis, but the side effects are worse than the skin problem, so that's out. Plus it wouldn't even help the intestinal problems. Only a gluten-free diet will help, which is extremely inconvenient.
Oh, and I can't afford to go to the MD because I've been so exhausted and apathetic that I went part time and lost insurance. So the only logical thing seems to be trying a gluten-free diet for a few months, when I'd prefer to just quit eating instead of bother with all the food prep ... because I have no energy ... probably because I have celiac sprue. Grrrr. |
