My 9 y/o son is a wonderful kid.  Ever since he was a baby, though, he's always had a bit of separation anxiety.  He's in 3rd grade now and still gets a belly ache almost every morning before school.  I make him go to school.  He tells me that nothing is going on at school to scare him (bullys or mean teacher) but he says he thinks his classroom is too crowded and that the kids are noisy (there's 23 kids in his class).  I don't want anything to be wrong with my kid, but if there is a bit of anxiety/phobia going on, I really want to help him.  When do you know if it needs medical attention?  Like today is Grandparent's Day at school.  He has three grandparents going.  He says he doesn't like all the people being at his school (the grandparents).  I told him that it'll be fine, they won't hurt him, they are just there for their grandkids.  I've just noticed that he really doesn't like big noisy crowds at all.  He doesn't like it if the TV is too loud, or if me and my 5 y/o are talking to loud while he's concentrating on homework or drawing.  (not like me and the 5 y/o are yelling cause my hubby works midnights, we have to be quiet).  So I guess I'm just wondering, should I seek out professional help?  There have been no traumatic cases in our family.  He has all his grandparents, his dad and I are married (have been for 13 years), we don't fight.  The counselor at school tried talking to him last year and he doesn't open up, not even to me.  He's shy (but does have friends), but not an outgoing person (like his dad).  Thanks for listening.  I'm just kinda confused.
