Overall the school lunches in this district are great. The elementary school would offer ice cream or popcorn for 25 cents once a week. Always fresh fruits, vegs with the meal. I'm just shocked that the middle school offers a choice of "type A (regular) or type B (ala carte crap) lunches" and there is no control other than for the parents to "discuss their expectations" with the student. I'm thinking we may go to packing lunch except for once a week or something. We are going to give a trial this week and see what he says he buys and then address it. I'm hoping he surprises us but I'm sure its just a matter of time before he joins the rest of the crowd. |
