I believe there is no tribute to Jesus in commercializing Christmas. If you are a Christian and follow the bible in John 4:23 it says “The true worshipers shall worship the Father in the spirit and in truth”, yet you go through the rituals and accept family traditions at the holidays as “truth” when in actuality it has nothing to do with a Jesus.
The Christmas tree was actually a symbol of the resurrection of a pagan god. The pagan sun worshippers would place a Yule log on their fire to symbolize that their pagan god, Nimrod, had died. The next day they would cut down an evergreen tree to stand in their homes to symbolize the resurrection of Nimrod through his son Tammuz. The green tree was a symbol of life and was decorated in red berries and small balls that represented the sun.
The actual birth date of the Christ child is not known. The date of Dec 25th was chosen by Pope Julius I. It seemed to be a convenient choice since Saturnalia (a celebration of the god Saturn), as well as all winter solstice festivals fell around the same time. Early Christians thought it an abomination to celebrate a pagan god, so they combined Saturnalia with their own holiday – the birth of the Christ child - and created a single celebration for their own uses.
Santa Claus is a mythological figure, also pagan. He was of Norse legend. The Norse believed that the goddess Hertha appeared in the fireplace and brought good luck to the home.
It is strange that a day never mentioned in the bible should become the so-called “Christian” holiday of the entire year. A day never celebrated by Yeshua the Messiah, or his apostles, or others.
So for all those who believe they are being “good Christians” by celebrating Jesus birthday on Dec 25th and going through all the rituals, you are actually honoring the pagan sun gods, and making a lot of stores lots of money. |
