I have all three major credit bureaus marked witha "alert" status on all my accounts, including medical, credit cards, bank accounts, anything with my social. If anyone tries to use it, the company when trying to verify my credit will be forced to ask for confirmation from that person to make sure it is me; otherwise, they will deny credit.
I have had this in place on everything for years but I finally just put it with Suzy Ormann who keeps a daily check of this as well. Small charge for yearly oversight.
